Star Blaster
« on: June 26, 2019, 09:58:38 pm »
As with every other S&S tower, Star Blaster got seatbelts.  They're pretty awkward to fasten because of the minimal clearance between the arm rest and they slowed down loading a good deal.

Unfortunately Star Blaster wasn't running well.  The launches were very weak and the ride was crawling by the time it reached the top of the tower.  The result was barely any airtime.  The seatbelts had enough give so the lack of air wasn't their fault.

That's disappointing to hear. I don't get the need for an extra seat belt. i really just see this as a "safety" upgrade that is in place to make S&S Sensi extra money.

it's not needed. you can not tell me there is a risk of both the restraints and the backup-belts failing to the point there is a need for a send backup belt.

It certainly seems S&S mandated.  It's weird because I can't think of an accident with one of their towers.

Maybe tis just extra "Safety" To try to prevent accidents or maybe they have found a flaw in the restraints

Possible I guess. It just still seems fishy to me.

Valleyfair replaced their restraints with ratcheting ones.  However, Iowa's Adventureland still had the old restraints without the seatbelt which seemed odd based on the trend at other parks.

Interesting. I can see that upgrade.
