One of the few remaining attraction from Riverside Park. Once operated in what is now the Rockville Gymnasium the park relocated it to the front of the park as part of the new entrance plaza.   The ride at one time had a Band organ but that was sold off some time ago.  Band Organ music is played over speakers which isn;t as nice but still charming.  While often overlooked by guests the ride is in good shape and hold its own in the world of Classic Carousels around New England.

I do love that they do update and take care of the horses and carousel, I know its  a huge undertaking to maintain but they seem to take care of it

A real band organ would be nice but I don't see SFI giving them the money for one. They barely add flats because they don't think they can market it I doubt they will add a band organ. If they ever did it would likely end up along the midway brought to you by Ticketmaster

Are they actually using the band organ at the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round now? Every time I've been there in the past few years it was recorded music.

I visited a couple of years ago and they were using the band organ. It was also on a weekend so maybe that had something to do with it.

I do know that Jennifer Mances Husband was one who was working on the refurb a few years ago. I remember when Jen had sent me pictures of the Horses being repainted

As we know it caught fire, I have been sent pictures showing minimal damage to the roof and it reopened yesterday!

Glad to hear it reopened.  it's good to hear the weather was light enough in that area that they were able to open. I know LC closed the last 2 nights.

Also, I was informed that the cause to the fire was a short in the electrical due to an overload of lighting!
