Title: Six Flags Surveys
Post by: Aj on June 24, 2019, 05:34:09 pm
I just did a new survey and it looks like SF wants to build hotels near their parks. They showed artwork for the new hotel going in at gradv and asked about one they would build in Springfield Mass.

There is enough room for a hotel and a campground near Great Adventure. Would like to see both.

SFNE owns some land across the border in CT so a Hotel could be a good use for that space.  They own a small plot near the Cyclone but I don't think its big enough for a hotel.

Not sure how much demand there would be for a hotel at SFNE.

I don’t think all Six Flags would need a Hotel. I am sure the hotel would do ok, but not so sure in New England! It would have to really come with some amazing perks to get people to stay there!

Which is my thinking.  They can't be cookie cutter either they would need to have some sense of uniqueness.

I got it today.  It was mostly about your attitude towards having HITP in the era of COVID 19.

I guess I did and it didn’t make the post lol I’ll repost it.

They seem to be sending out more surveys getting a feel for memberships, holidays and safety

Received another survey yesterday. It was mainly around food options. Interestingly it was talking about expectations for an upscale type burger joint. Had questions about other chain type places and asked how you rated them and asked questions about airport restaurants too which was kind of interesting. A little COVID section too.

Speaking or surveys did anybody see the possible news of having to take a covid test before going into the park? IM wondering if that will help or hurt the parks

Didn't see that one but they are talking a similar setup for concert attendance. But Something have to be in place for you to skip a test if you are vaccinated.

But given I have a Canobie season pass if I also get the Palace Parks Platnum pass and there are a bunch of hurdles just to visit SFNE I'll just skip the SFI parks for another year.

Honestly, I think a lot of people may or may not go if you have to take a test to go! some people just can't get to get a test and get results quick enough to go, it might help people, but for me, if nobody has the virus, I would expect that you wouldn't have to wear masks in the park, if not it's not really serving its purpose. people don't want to go because they are afraid and do not want to wear a mask. I'd honestly stop going until all mandates are gone

I 2-4 days a week spend hours wearing a mask so a day at the park wearing one doesn't bother me I did it twice to visit Canobie. but I agree if you're getting tested why should you be required to wear a mask. I do think they should have some extra social distancing in lines. I did answer that I might not be comfortable sitting next to a stranger on a ride.

But what it failed to mention is if you have the vaccine do you still need a test.  They talk about the quick test. They weren't too clean about if they intended to have that available at the gates. It's what they seem to be implying. Though they kept saying $5 but a restaurant in, I think It's, Canada is requiring a test to dine, and the onsite quick test in $30. The ABBOT quick self-tests arn't as accurate and I have not seen the costs yet.

I got a new survey today.  It asked opinions on potential special events at SF such as Ren Faires, Parking Lot Movies, Car Shows, E game tournaments, Dinosaurs Alive show, etc.  Looks like they know they still won't be allowed to open the regular operations at many parks next spring.

I got a survey but haven't had a chance to look. I imagine it's the same one you are talking about. If they can't reopen I imagine A drive-in event might be a hit for them. I'm not sure how many of the other options would help. Maybe the Dinos if it was a drive-through attraction.

I got it as well but a little different. Mine had walk through food festivals, car show / comedy show, winter fright fest and a projection type show. Also asked for ideas.

A winter fright fest or a winter-themed haunt along with the Holiday lights would be nice but the rest is nothing special. nothing that would convince me to drive over 2 hours.

but I'm hoping that come next winter all this insanity will be in the rearview.

Great Adventure did add Starbucks. Would like a good coffee shop at the park.

Expect to see more restaurants from FAT Brands over the next few years.
https://www.fatbrands.com/

Starbucks will be at most parks.

Was there some sort of agreement signed with Six Flags and them?

I don't really get the point. Out of the list on the site I have only heard of 2 companies outside of Johnny Rockets and While Hot Dog on a Stick might work well I don't see a Ponderosa Buffet working in the park.

If the goal is to have fresh pretzels or better burgers just do it why pay someone else a royalty just to have an unknown brand.  It's like the whole Pinks hotdogs at LC. it's an unknown brand in this area so it's really not a helpful addition.
