Trip Reports / Re: Hershey and Knoebels 6/2
« on: August 26, 2022, 05:06:58 pm »
I managed to hit both these parks at the end of July before Wildcat was shut down. Both parks are great and had a lot of fun but 1 day at either park isn't enough I must have missed a half dozen or more rides at both parks. It was my first real road trip, multiple day with overnights in close to 20 years.

Membership is definitely gone but as of the last call attendance is down. This new pas offering seem to be a big reason.

It's hard to say. Nothing in 2023 would be a shame. Not unless they announced 20-30 Million company wide for capital improvements.  The park needs a lot of work even to attract "Target" customers

I feel they need to get rid of parks and into aquire any especially with the current CEO, some of his ideas are great but poor execution!
Let me suggest they sell TGE to Palace Ent. I would welcome another Nearby park on the platinum pass.

Six Flags have been hovering around signage for year even after they removed the looney toons characters. While I would generally doubt it, given the new CEO's we want family ideas It might be back on the table as an example of what he wants.

That's what I have heard also.

If you haven't already purchased a pass you have to deal with the new teared system.

None of these rumors are positive at all. I'm sure there are people who like water parks and would like a bigger water park but they haven't even added the last planed water park addition so why would they need to remove the parks top billed attraction to make room to expand it.

I get coasters can be costly to keep up but in some cases it's worth it. Ride of Still is the park biggest coaster and one of the things that help s DL stand out in the area that has 2 other parks within a hour. Downgrading the park can only hurt not help the park down the line. You would think the owners would want to make the investment to keep the coaster running because a drop in attendance and returns will only lead to lower profits down the line.

I prefer to pay all at once but I agree the prices shows at those 2 parks are insane.  Admission and season pass price will come to a breaking point. I wonder how many people actually got the top end membership because that's where the top end new pass seems to be priced around.

I do admit I prefer something like this to the tent they are using now. I can;t say I'm happy wit the design. it doesn't really match the European/Bavarian style of the main building.

Nice review.

I also visited the event for the first time. I was not very impressed. all the displays are basic except for the big tree at the entrance.  There were a few cool ones like light displays taht matched rides in the kiddie area and the snowman that slid down the hill during ghost hunt.

Speaking of ghost hunt it was re-themed a little for the holidays which was really cool

The show was cute and a good way to get out of the cold but I had already seen it a decade+ ago at Santa's Village and it was shorter then I remembered. Talent could have been better also.

It was very slow and there was a lack of things to do with all the coasters down. even the Ferris wheel was down. did ride the train 3 times and not once did they do that carolokee they were bragging about. I ate before I got to the park because i was unsure what food would be available but was unexpressed by the options available.

I credit much of this in my mind to dealing wit the pandemic and don;t want to fully judge it until I see it in a more normal situation.

sounds like you had a good time. I can;t say I'm overly surprised that the event is on par with those other events there is only so much you can do to decorate for the holiday.

Saw that rumor in another thread.  Pointed out that a larger model of a n average ride is still an average ride.

With a push for all parks to downside rides I can see why they opted for this. The store damage just made it that much easier. Scrambler being moved over there is an interesting option. works OK with a 50's area could have fun with a new paint scheme.

Thought how unlikely is it that this area might be left open. You have a small food stand and stands in the Rockville area with limited seating so This plot would open up a lot of seating and seating costs much less to operate then a ride.

That is a shame but understandable. I can see how Thunderbolt would be easy to operate. though you figure Pandemonium would be a good option. Is that end of the park even open park Scrambler?

Been a few years So I can't remember the whole setup.
