I think the strategy of additional attractions in dry parks and water parks may be very different.  The competition is different and the expectations of the patrons may be different also.   So comparing the strtegy at Water Country to Story Land is probably apples to oranges.

Perhaps, mostly pointing out a property within the same company in a tourist area with a built-in draw.

That aside let us look at area waterparks. Every park with an added waterpark has added one or more attractions in the last decade. Every stand-alone water park in New England has added one or more attractions since Dr. Von Dark was added to the water country.  Yes with the fact Water Country is the largest stand along with waterpark in New England they have less of a need to expand. but over 10 years is a bit nuts.

I was looking at Over Georgia and got thinking:
-Lickskillet should be renamed boardwalk as that is the main theme I see, could probably includes the pavilions in that (but I don't care)
-create a new area out of Georgia and USA
-add Peachtree (where Acraphobia is) and Coastal (Where there RMC Cyclone is) to the Promenade (main entrance) area
-could add another entrance.
-They could probably move the Sky Coaster to where the Axis Arena is and scrap Great American Scream Machine to expand the water park (which they may not need to for a long time).

Their Western area is one of the best I have seen. very well themed. I agree I know it seems small but it's a great area.  Past that is a boardwalk themed area. the American Boardwalk is where Superman ultimate flight is located. It really doesn't need to be expanded since the Waterpark plays into the theme.

create a new area out of Georgia and USA? What do you mean by this?  They already have the Antibelom area which represents GA during that period. They have a 50's area it's where Goliath can be found. This is like the western area very well themed expect for Goliath's entrance. Keep in mind SFOG was built as a theme park it wasn't an amusement park turned theme park

add Peachtree (where Acrophobia is) and Coastal (Where there RMC Cyclone is) to the Promenade (main entrance) area? again not sure what you're hoping to do here. are you talking signage  Cyclone is part of the Antebellum area? and GA's Coastline is nothing special or worth promoting.

could add another entrance. They used to have another entrance it was in the back of the park by GASM. It was removed in the late '90s around the time Viper was added.

They could probably move the Sky Coaster to where the Axis Arena is and scrap Great American Scream Machine to expand the water park (which they may not need to for a long time).
Wouldn't open up much room The sky coaster uses very little space and GASM goes around a pond. Which by the way floods. So it wouldn;t really help. Sure GASM is not the best wood coaster out there but now its there only wood coaster.

I was mainly thinking of replacing Blue Hawk with a Vekoma eventually.

I haven't had a chance to ride blue hawk with the new trains. I road it a few times in the '90s the coaster overall is really good. I know it got shacky but if the new trains help with any headbanging like the new trains on Riddler It can't be that bad of a ride nowadays.

Had a rough day get back home from college. Going online from the 30th. I think the famous David Bianculli regrets not giving midterm, but also doesn't regret sharing The Ruttles with us either.

just my opinion but Six Flags should wait til all their 2020 additions are done and postpone all 2021 additions except Magic Mountian's because they technically got nothing for 2019 or 2020 depending on Member previews vs Grand Opening of WCR

After the financial devastation of the pandemic is done, don't be surprised if SFI and many other groups don't add for 2021, 2022 and maybe longer.  The only thing even close to this in our lifetime is 911.  The economic disruption of this, will make 911 economic problems look small.

Parks especially chains that rely on early year attendance will see a big impact on their bottom lines and will have to adjust.  It's too early to predict how long this will last and how it will affect parks that generally do the bulk of their business I summer with little to no early season.

I do agree SFI would be smart to dramatically scale back their additions. but moderately priced capital improvements should still be done.

Looks like Great Adventure, Doreny, and Cedar Point might not have a season, and Hershey will probably open as soon as Canymonium is approved or when Wolf approves, which ever is best.

Barber Shops and the like can't open til the Green Phase in PA, yet New Orleans is opening them not at 25% capacity. I feel that is the best comparison in terms of density even though it wasn't as hard hit as the North East or Seattle.

Density may be the same but how are numbers comparing. sadly the reopening course seems to be in some cases very politically and not scientifically driven.

I think that if numbers are stable or dropping, capacity is limited and it's by appointment only salons and barbershops can open.  You can do everything supposedly right and still get this. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital yesterday and tested positive. he lives in assisted living and I have had minimal interaction with him only dropping off a few store items to the staff and was no more than 2 arms lengths from him for less than a minute.
