Haunted Overload
« on: October 21, 2019, 10:23:04 pm »
We went there Saturday Night 10/19/19.

Over Hyped, not worth a top ten spot in the country lol

The line you wait in was amazing! Theming, props, actors are top notch! Sets, theming in the Haunt top notch, but Congo line, dead stops for 5-10 min not moving. Actors just standing there was a huge let down! I got the review dropping tomorrow but boy were we disappointed!

This is a haunt I always wanted to hit. I've known about it when it was just a backyard haunt.  Sorry to hear you didn't care for it. I know tickets are limited seems like they perhaps oversold them this year.

It was just weird because even Haunt owners and Actors I told about when I went said I must of went on a bad night.  This Haunt was highly suggested by the owners of Fright Kingdom, FearTown, Workers at Factory of Terror in multiple locations as well as the owners of 13th World, plus numerous Actors at all these haunts.  They said while busy that they have never heard of dead stops, congo lines and actors doing nothing.  I said I wish I could have filmed it to show them lol  The props, The theming, the sets for everything were on point like the best ive seen for a local haunt, plus the actor's makeups were great as well! The whole congo line, just standing for 5-10 min and most actors not doing anything really took away from that. I get that its popular and its praised so high, but we all were like what the hell, thats it. I am sure if I went on a different night possibly it could have been different. I'll try next season and hope for the best! I've gone to Haunts I love and see stuff like this and usually gets corrected and figured out. I know some haunts are designed for the congo line due to popularity. Haunted Graveyard, Halloween Horror Nights and a couple of others due to this because they have no other choice.

One problemI've seen si they try to space out groups but then you have those that are overly skittish and stops every time the wind blows. That can back up a line. I had a couple I was sent into a haunt with that stopped and waited for every time they saw someone to avoid missing out but then that backed up everyone behind us. Another haunt The group as along until 2-3rd of the way through and then conga line. sometimes despite their efforts, it happens.

The conga line and capacity problems are one of my biggest issues with the Village at Canobie.

I hope your next trip is better.

Actually in the comments section of that review the actor who is the Gatekeeper commented thanking me for the nice things I said and explained their issues with the congo lines. Which I responded with I get it, but at the end of the day its due to the people, they said people stop and take photos, people don't all walk the same, some people get too scared, things hold up the line and saturdays are the worst day to go! pushing 2K people on a saturday night thru!

I fell for Haunts but there are ways to combat this and If I ever open a haunt like I want to, there will never be a congo line, ive outlined all procedures and stuff I wanted to do to make sure there would never be a congo line .  Ive seen a a few haunts really work to make sure this doesn't happen, plus the fact that ive only been to one where I have never ever bumped into another group because its impossible and will never happen unless the haunt malfunctions. DementedFX has got a system that you will never, no matter how you try will never ever bump into another group! its flawless and amazing!  Outdoor haunts probably cant use this system just because well look at the terrain and it probably cost demented fx some money to do this with automated doors, cameras, etc

I think a Haunt that is popular like Haunted Overload and others can raise the ticket price a little, add more nights like add Thursdays if need be to spill out the crowds.  Especially if the tickets are timed slots and not just walk up and go in!

it really depends how much you truly care about your guest experience!

I think adding an extra night would be a good idea. They also need to rework their web site to better indicate there is a not so scary set up during the day so if your skittish and want pictures you should be focusing on that one. many haunts I go to say to put cameras away. though I've still seen people take then out.

Demented FX dose an amazing job but boy does that 2 room queue drag on. (TR for Demented FX coming up)
