I believe they meant “Holiday in the Lodge”, which they’re hosting again this year with limited water park attractions.

Yes I missed it at first myself but they show TGE in the HITP list but next to it the lodge is what’s actually mentioned. Still good to see something happening but unfortunate still nothing in the actual park.

If anyone is near the park, take a drive through the parking lot of the hotel behind the Fest Area and see if the Giant Wheel is still standing.

I’m guessing it’s one of the 15 rides SFI was planning to remove. Any and all mention of it has been removed from the website, and they also removed it from the ride accessibility guide that was supposed to be for the 2021 season (which also disappeared). It had been listed as “Temporarily Closed” for many months.

Can’t say this would have been my guess but it was really off by itself and never seemed to get a lot of interest at least when I went if it is the ride going.

TGE has a lake of rides their rides should have been left alone. But I do get it. While it's a nice ride it's location is junk and it's the only ride back in that area. So you have to walk away from the park to ride this one attraction.

Was up there Thursday, the Giants Wheel is still up.... no changes to anything as far as I could tell.

I've always liked TGE in 2005 I actually took more trips to TGE on my pass than I did to SFNE.

TGE is closer to my house than SFNE so I always get at least a visit or two in each season.  I prefer the SFNE ride collection but TGE is a fun little park too.  Steamin Demon was the first looping coaster I ever went on as a kid so that's a great park memory to go with it.

TGE is about 1.5 times the travel time though every park is an hour + from me. SFNE is about 2 hours 15 minutes drive as is LC. TGE is a bit over 3. I've had it take as much as 4. I just find TGE despite the average rede selection to have much more charm than SFNE.  The rides are definitely better at SFNE but TGE has a few solid attractions and so many little things to look at as you stroll around the park.

Screamscape is reporting that the Giant Wheel is now being dismantled and references to it have been removed from the website.

Hasn't it been off the website for a while? Any locals in the area that might be able to confirm this?

I am not surprised this would be one of the rides SFNE ends up removing. The ride offers a great view but it's in a terrible location and you have to walk out of your way just to ride it.  I wanted to ride this on my last trip but I couldn't get anyone in my party to do it.

Went to the park yesterday, the Giant Wheel is still up…. Although that whole section of the park is blocked off with Raging River not operating yet.

Very crowded day, especially with the limited capacity on the rides themselves. Ie… Pandamonium is every other seat, regardless if you’re in the same party.  Same with Cannonball and the coasters.

Operations weren’t pretty, whether it be rides or food service. (35 minutes to get a chicken tender basket and the line for the dippin dots stand went to the Jolly Tree Theater)

ADK Outlaw’s platform is taking shape nicely up in ghost town.

Got a few laps on Comet though, so that makes for a good day regardless.

Thanks for the update. I don't get the loading rules with groups.  I get wanting to give people space but if your a group they should be putting you together to get as many people on safely as possible.

It does sound like they have some things to work out. distancing is important but time to get things might be a staffing issue also.
