2021 Opening
« on: February 17, 2021, 07:32:21 pm »
I drove past the park today and saw that sky screamer was part of the way up! I was hoping that they would have an opening date on their website and nobody had noticed, but they don't. :(

My guess is they are waiting on MA to announce an opening day. Unlikely MA will meet Stage 4 by Summer. They might be able to get away with special events with limited attractions. A Christmas in July or a similar holiday event.

Word is Red Sox are on MA full press to allow limited attendance at outdoor events.  It truly is criminal that Casinos are open in MA while amusement parks, sports venues etc remain closed in MA.  It is all $$$.  The casinos share revenue with MA and the others do not.  So basically Baker is willing to risk the health of citizens for money only.

Either ball parks, amusement parks AND Casinos are all safe or they are all unsafe.    Really no way to get around that unless you admit it is money.

I agree and both parks and Sports venues were allowed to operate in NH at limited capacities and we saw no outbreaks from those locations. not to mention you are much safer in an outdoor attraction than you are in an indoor building. though I suspect the brand new Casinos likely have some of the best HVAC's to be found in the state given the age of many of the older buildings.

I did see an article that they were looking to start hiring. So it seems they are anticipating a start around the normal time.

MA announced a move into Phase 4 for March 22.  At that point attendance limits for the Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox will be 12% of capacity.  That is just over 2000 fans for TD Garden and 4500 for Fenway.  All those teams have more season ticket holders than that, so who knows how they work that out.

Not sure if SFNE will have the same limit but I think they were in Phase 4.  At that level of attendance a reservation might be tough.  The sports teams are all talking about it but I don't see anything from SFNE yet.

NH was at I think 25% 0r 30%. But ya 15% for the park would be a very low amount. But Arguably They should be able to allow a few thousand in at a time if not a bit more.

Massachusetts split Phase 4 into Part 1 and 2.  March 23 is Phase 4 Part 1.  Amusement parks are stuck on Phase 4 Part 2 with night clubs, saunas, and bars.

The earliest Phase 4 Part 2 can happen is a month after Phase 4 Part 1, so we're looking at late April at the earliest if downward trends continue.

Lets hope the downward trend continues and we can get inside the park sooner then later!

I'm all for safety, but I think the park should open before the casino honestly!

I thought I heard something about a drive-in laser Lightshow so it seems like they are trying to do some things to get people on the property and generate some cash.

Well with the Dino sour attraction announced we guarantee that opening will not take place until at least Jun.

I was told, if they can't open the rides, they have a back up plan, what that is, I have no idea!

It is totally unfair that they are not open.  Aquariums, Museums, Casinos, Art Galleries etc - all INDOOR places that have 10 times the risk as an outdoor amusement park, are open in MA.  Parks in CT, NJ, NY are open or will be open soon.  Yet SFNE is left to dangle as they are classified the same as a bar.   PATHETIC leadership in MA.

Exactly there are some justifiable arguments to Bars they tend to be small and hard to distance many are older locations with pore ventilation. Concert arenas are geared toward having large crowds.   but SFNE has proven they can open with reduced capacity, distance their guests, and operate safely.  If the holiday lights and dino events have done nothing else it's to prove the park can handles opening.

Well with the news today, parks can open as of May 10th with state approval! I reached out to the park with no response yet, but will update when we know more!
