Holiday In The Park
« on: October 25, 2019, 04:26:47 pm »
The park Holiday lights/Chrismas event is called Holiday In The Park. Here we can talk about the seasonal event. what are your thoughts? What do you think it needs? What might the future hold?

Kidzopolis is one of the areas that really sees a makeover here's an on-ride of the Krazy Cars during Holiday In The Park.

Unlike SFGADV, SFNE is not able to open their best rides/coasters.  We go, but have to settle for Batman and Riddler.  The trip to SFGADV yields rides on Nitro and El Toro.   SFNE just does not compare.  A ride on the Skyride to view the park from above is also an advantage at SFGADV.

El Toro isn’t open during HITP.

I think SFGAdv has an upper hand since the park is virtually flat. No Midways featuring ramps or stairways for guests to slip on.

It's obviusly a concern they removed the themed walkways in Crackaxle and main street and converted ti to lacktop before launching the attraction at SFNE.

I understand the reasons for the limitations at SFNE.  It is just that those limitations make the event less attractive to me.  Others may not care as much.  It is a long drive to SFGADV but can be worth it. Just FYI - SFGADV stays open weekends and select days in November between Fright Fest and HITP so if you need a coaster fix..............

I can get your position where you can choose between them. My other options would be to pay to visit Edaville, LC,  or Santa's Village. I slightly prefer Santa's Village I'll hopefully visit LC for the first time for their event.

For me, I liked Kidzopolis. I think it was called, Polar Paradise. Some of Mainstreet looked nice the lights over the walkway are nice but feel rushed. The rest of the park could be much better.

We usually get to LC at least once for their event.  The hook there is the use of Food Trucks for almost all the food in the park.  There are several that are really top notch.  There are no coasters running at LC but it is always worth a visit.  The plan this year is to get to all three parks at least once.  Opinions vary on all three but we feel all are worth the trip.

My brother is saving one of his Bring a friend free coupons for LC so I can check out their event this year.

SFNE does try hard to operate rides which are good but some are simply uncomfortable to ride in colder weather. Think of how big of a Christmas tree of similar decoration they could set up on Harley Quin in they opted to turn it into a display over operating it.

I would rather them operate as much as possible than turning rides into decorations. It is what makes Six flags Holiday in the park better than most other Holiday events for me.

^^ My Silver LC bring a friend free benefit aren't good on weekends so no dice with the holiday event since it isn't open on any weekdays.  LC  Gold Deluxe and Gold do have bring a friend that are good on weekends.   LC is actually still open this weekend while SFNE is not.

I think my SFNE pass does allow friends during the holiday event so we will use those.

I get your point and for the most part, agree. But did you ride this ride in the cold? not all that fun.  In the meantime, a likely more comfortable coater Pandemonium was closed when I visited HITP. The Bloon Race was also closed. The staff needed to run just Pandemonium could operate thows 2 attractions.

Since that side of the park as closed Scrambler was also closed another much more tolerable ride in the cold was not operating.

I did ride it. I also enjoy skiing when it is far below zero so i might not be the best example... Pandemonium should be open for the event, they must be afraid of it valleying.

I guess not. I enjoy winter but don't do any winter sports. I took a long time to get acclimated to this environment after moving up from TX and then spent another 4 years of my life in GA.

It just doesn't make sense to me to have Harley Quinn open with plenty of rides in that area open and have an entire side of the park closed. Especially when that side houses 3 family rides.

Six Flags i think is the only regional park that gives anything to desire for older people without kids though. It's my favorite time to go to park personally because the atmosphere is different and everyone seems to just be in a happier mood. But if they decided to only focus on family rides and 1 or 2 thrill rides i would probably only go once a year during the event.

Lake Compounce for example focuses just on families for the event and that is fine and works for them but I will only go every other year to see some Christmas lights. I will drive 4hrs to go to Great Adventure before the little over an hour drive for me to go to Lake Compounce this year
